EDF Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles Grant

Triangle Clean Cities is proud to partner on the Environmental Defense Fund’s (EDF) Heavy-Duty Zero-Emission Vehicles Grant, an initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles across public and private fleets in North Carolina.
As part of this collaboration, Triangle Clean Cities will play a key role in supporting fleet education and transition strategies for cleaner transportation technologies. Our efforts will focus on outreach, technical assistance, and identifying pathways for both public and private fleets to move toward sustainable, zero-emission vehicle options.
One of the most exciting components of this grant is our participation in the EDF Climate Corps program. This summer, we will host two Climate Corps fellows—talented graduate students who bring expertise in sustainability and energy solutions. These fellows will work directly with our coalition to:
- Support fleets with data-driven planning for zero-emission vehicle adoption
- Research and promote policies and incentives that can ease the transition
- Help develop a career pathway strategy to build a diverse, EV-ready workforce in the region
The EDF Climate Corps program has a strong track record of embedding emerging leaders within organizations to drive impactful sustainability projects. You can learn more about the program here.
This initiative directly supports our mission to promote clean transportation options and create opportunities for workforce development in a rapidly evolving industry. Through this grant, Triangle Clean Cities is committed to shaping a cleaner, more equitable, and economically vibrant transportation future.
